£2500 Hardtail advice

Hi there
I'm in the market for a hardtail and have around £2500 available at a push.
I was set on getting a Bird Zero AM after riding a mates bike (loved it) but my budget then was £1500
The main question is - is it worth spending my new full budget on a Bird or going with something different bearing in mind that the Bird frame is £400. Or do I get something with a more expensive frame and then build around that?
I ride around the Peak District, so it can get quite gnarly at times with lots of climbing involved. I've got a full sus already but need a decent winter hardtail.
Cheers

2.5k would get you a superb build on a bird - maybe phone them and see what spec they can do for you as they are pretty flexable for custom builds.
Alternatively buy the frame then build your own - thats what my bro in law did.
