Hi There,

I had my bike stolen and then returned by Police, only to find that the cap protecting the Front Suspensions valve was missing and what appears to be damage to the thread of the valve (picture below). There is also no pressure in the suspension.

I took may suspension to the local bike shop but the engineer wasn't to sure how it could be fixed.

Does anybody know whether this is a complicated and potentially expensive issue?

Thanks
James

    Very easy and pretty cheap.

    Buy one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Air-Top-Cap-Re ... F6EAM46K1S

Let all the air out, take the old cap off (it's not connected to anything inside) and screw the new one on.

    Hi,

Thanks for reply and link. Is the the silver component (valve?), a separate part to the black cap in your link? As I think the thread has been chipped on the valve, as you can see in picture.

    Thanks

The part linked to is the whole top cap assembly which includes the valve. You screw the whole thing in to the top tune and then the separate cap which says air on it unscrews to reveal the valve. If it's the same as the pike, it's a 24mm socket and tightens to 28Nm - but specs are on the SRAM website...

Yep. I just took the caps off my 30 and my Pike to check that they were both the same, and the valve is part of the cap on both. It is, as mentioned above, a 24mm socket.
