Knee/lower quad pain

Hi everyone,
I'm looking at getting some advice on a recent discomfort /pain I'm feeling only while riding. I've been doing more mileage recently (up to 250km a week compare to 200 previously) and most of it is on my commuter bike that is new. The geometry is different from my normal road bike and I have longer crank arm (172.5mm instead of 170mm on road bike) slightly more setback (15 mm instead of 0mm on the road bike). Bottom line the setup is different and last weekend I changed pedals and did not change seat post height accordingly and went on a ride with the baby in the trailer (50+ lbs), might of grinded up climbs. Next day i felt pain in the external part of my lower quad, also the external side of the knee. No swelling or anything but hurts only while cycling. I'm unable to put much pressure on that side. It has been bothering me all week while riding to work. It hasn't gotten worst but it's definitely not better. Any clue on what kind of damage i might have? I'll take a couple days off but I'd like to know what I might have. I'll check with the doctor at some point if it doesn't get any better. Could a bad fit be the cause of this?
Thanks for your response. Cheers!

Sounds like you've already answered your own question. Unless you specifically need a referral, just bypass the doc and go straight to the physio if you need rehab.0

Foam roller helped when I suffered with problems in that area as a result of running. I liked that I could do it every day and gradually ease it out.0

Well my doctor refereed me to a physiotherapist and the diagnosis seems to be a quadriceps tendinitis....The recovery time seems uncertain at this point since it will depend on how my tendon reacts to treatment. Still looking at a good 2-3 weeks completely off the bike in the best case scenario and no hard training for at least 1-2 months. It's a bit depressing because it basically means no racing this year. A bit depressed but at least I'll be able to spend more time with my baby boy.
Have anyone been diagnosed with such injury and how long did your recovery last?
Cheers!0
