Have asked my LBS and they are unsure. Can i use a Sram XG1150 10-42 11 Speed Cassette on my existing rear hub that currently has a Sram PG1070 11-36 10 Speed Cassette installed?
There are good deals on Sram GX upgrade kits at present, and would like to keep costs as low as possible if changing.

Fairly certain your current cassette is on a splined freehub. The SRAM 11sp cassette requires a XD Driver freehub. Therefore, you'll need to change th freehub too in order to fit the SRAM 11sp cassette.
Shimano XT M8000 11-42 11sp cassette only requires a splined freehub.
Your LBS really should know this!0 -

So, changing to an XT 1x11 will be a direct fit?0 -

I want to use the matchmaker mount on my brake lever on a new set up.
So, can I use a SRAM GX shifter and derailleur with an XT cassette?0 -
Yes, you can.
Cassettes and chains are interchangeable within the same speed category.
Shifter and derailleur need to match each other though.0
