Chainstay damage from chain suck

On my most recent ride, my chain got stuck in my front derailleur causing it to hit the bottom of my chain stay. It is deep enough to expose the carbon, so is this likely to be a serious problem? Would some clear nail varnish or epoxy be adequate? Also, how can I prevent chain suck from happening in the future - it doesn't look like any of my chainring teeth are bent.

Just superficial there. Its quite unusual to get it scratching underneath the chainstay.
You could just put some helicopter tape on it ?0 -
Chainsuck can be due to chain 'stretch' or poor lubriaction as well as issues with the chainring teeth.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I wrap the chainstays on my carbon bikes with spiral cable tidy. It's very tough and has saved my chainstays on numerous occasions. Whilst helicopter tape is great stuff, it's not tough enough to stop chain-suck damage.0
