Club rides when tired

As per the title, would you still join your usual club ride even if you've over done your mileage and or training and have nothing in the legs?
My club is fairly new and we've not really sorted out different paced groups so it tends to be shortish and very fast on a Saturday, I'm usually totally up for it and on the front a fair amount however these last few weeks I've had full on flu and prior to that high mileage hilly training block right back to last November.
This week I'm paying the price I've totally broken down mid commute twice and struggled everyday. I will be out anyway on Saturday morning and I'd rather do it with friends but do I just suck it up and plod a slow solo route or rock up to the club ride and try to hang on for dear life?
Perhaps I should try nurturing a slow pace group?

Sadly the marmotte, I know nothing special but I want to set a better time than last time and I'm significantly older but I think fitter ATM.
I think I'm going to go with the rock up apologise in advance and see if I can hang on, I won't be on the front that's for sure.
I found today that eating loads more helped but not a lot more. I'll be crushed if this last too long as pre flu I was flying up hills and smashing every ride and it felt great.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

If you can't handle a commute I'd question a ride tomorrow as it sounds like you need rest rather than miles.
To lock in your fitness gains you need to rest and it sounds like your body is telling you to recover first before placing more stress on your immune system.
I've a training plan and supposedly a unstructured but easyish ride on a Sunday. Invariably it's anything but I adapt the volume or intensity according to my preference at the time. Sometimes the club ride is a great way to let off steam and I'll throttle back on the training in the week or just crack on full throttle until I start seeing indicators for over training.
the bottom line is you have to enjoy it otherwise what's the point?“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”

i know but in theory i had a rest the week i was ill and this week has been a shocker so far now i'm panicking about July, i'll go tomorrow and see what happens if i'm on more arse again then a week off will be on the cards.
I've only had 1-2 weeks off by choice once a year on family holidays maybe more time off would be good.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Dude, a week off due to illness does not equate to a rest week!
Listen to what you're body is telling you otherwise you won't have a choice and the time you need to recuperate will significantly increase“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. As for "club rides" I have found that they usually turn into "club races". This is not necessarily a bad thing unless you're trying to take it easy that day.0

Well timed post, I opted out of yesterdays Wednesday night ride after suffering on a solo morning ride I knew there was no way I'd be able to stay with the group.
Might need a few weekends of restRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
