pin and needles in hands when riding

what could cause this? I seem to get pins and needles on the thumb side of my hand. Am I gripping the bars too tight or is it something else? would rotating the bars reduce this?

Are you wearing a tight base layer or long sleeves - could a seam be pinching the blood supply at your elbow for example?

Too much pressure on the bars I think ?

Have you adjusted the bike lately - can you raise the bars slightly ?

Itf its on the hoods then yeah rotating might help buyt if its on the flats - wont make a difference

What mitts do you have ? Are they well padded ?

Thanks- I do ride on the hoods most of the time, the bars are at the top of the steerer. Yesterday i used a pair of Castelli winter gloves which did seem a bit better but I usually use altura MTB mitts as they seem to have quite good padding, apart from don't put too much pressure on the bars what can i do to minimise this please?

Either trial and error making small changes to your position or get someone with the relevant knowledge to look at your position to see if you are compressing a nerve and exactly where and then see if you can change your position to alleviate the problem.

Small changes like bar width, make of shifter etc can create or cure these kind of issues but doing it blind is pot luck.

In the meantime.. keep your hands and wrists straight... that'll be £50 please.
