Need advice on new forks!

Hi all! Just got back into riding after a 10 year absence ! Bought a GT Avalanche Comp 2016 27.5 6 months ago and now looking to upgrade the forks.
I have a £400 budget max but the options out there are hurting me head. Could some one help me in regards what I need to look for. IE axle size, what size steerer, tapered or not?? Throughly confused :?

Link to the bike helps, but if it's this one, 100mm travel, straight steerer, 1 and 1/8", QR axle.

I assume it's a 9mm QR axle?

Yes. I think your choices for 27.5, straight steerer and QR will be quite limited.

So I've discovered! Excuse the ignorance again but would I need complete new wheels for a larger axle?

its a zero stack headset so might be able to use an external 44mm lower cup to fit a tapered fork, plus a change of hub to 15mm axle will open up a lot more choice.

Good spot. Maybe, but it makes it a pretty expensive exercise. Up around the original price of the bike.

I'd be tempted to just look for a nice second hand Reba or similar.

Cheers for the advice guys! Think I'll start with a 15mm hub then see what my options are from there.
