Am umming and ahhhing between building a bike for my daughter or buying one 'off the peg'.
Still like the look of the Ghost Kato 7, at £499 (down from £979) and would be easy to pass on to her brother.

However, just had an email from Planet X and their bike is at £465 (from £699) and more female specific (and a 29er, which may be an issue for someone who's barely 5 foot tall).

Okay, let me put it another way. Is the Planet X bike a decent buy for around £470?0

Everything about the Ghost looks superior to me component wise, whether it's geometry will fit your daughter's riding I don't know, but just because one bike is marketed as female over another is not an indicator it will be a comfortable ride its just clever marketing.0

Thanks Bailsofhay - that's exactly what I needed to know.0

The ghost is great value at that price, good enough that it would be worth buying an reframing into a different frame if that size wasn't right!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
