I have a question regarding my 1 1/8 zerostack thread less headset.
Can I replace what it currently has from this...

Can anyone with more knowledge and experience than me shed some light on this?
Thanks a lot!

Probably not, unless all the angles line up.
Just buy a whole lot of 5/32 loose balls and some grease.
The cages just rust away anyway.I don't do smileys.

Thanks for your reply, I've changed the cages and bearings today. I'm just thinking for the future, a sealed bearing system would be much more durable. The state of what came out was pretty terrible tbh. Considering it's an off road bike, it's going to get wet and mucky.
I'm not all that happy with the fact the bike is a 1 1/8 straight steerer either. It seems tapered is the norm now, yet mine is straight. Just means fork upgrades later on are going to be limited. I didn't know any of this stuff until recently.0 -
Depends on the quality of the cartridge bearings too. The campy style headset in the original post will not fit.0

Ok so to clarify I can change to sealed cartridge bearings if I swap out the headset completely? I.E change the bearing cups/races along with the bearings?
Sorry for appearing stupid here, but I've never had anything to do with headsets before. The differing terminology for the same components is confusing.
Zero stack means that it is not a fully intergtated/internal headset? My bearings sit inside of cups which are pressed into the head tube, is that correct?0 -
Yes, not stupid, and yes.I don't do smileys.
