OK,
98% of my rides I use middle ring, so other two need to go !
Also will be installing dropper seat post so need some room on the LH handlebar...
Anyway,
1) What N/W ring would you recommend - probably 34T and in BLUE ??
2) What (and where from) shorter bolts I should get ??
3) Ideally in region of £30 but can push a bit if needed.
I do have crank Shimano M552, 24/32/42 so I believe its BCD: 104/64 mm.
a) would this be a good choice: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/octane-one-lock-narrow-wide-chainring/rp-prod127293
b) or something cheaper: http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/i-o-chainring-narrow-wide-style.htm
or
c) bit more expensive... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/race-face-narrow-wide-single-chainring/rp-prod109723
Thanks,
Chris

Got my N/W ring today and also the bolts - quick delivery.
I ordered both in blue, but shame they are different shades of blue....
Anyway - looks like a bit of DIY over the weekend.

I know you have already bought a ring but there's also this Gear King version for around £15. Got one myself. You can get it from a Taiwan seller for a couple of quid less but would take 12-24 days to arrive.0

Cheers mate - good to know.
Yes, all done and dusted now, as I have just installed it and ready to go !!0 -
I found the Superstar ring didn't last as long as others I have had. Absolute Black has been the best and lasted ages.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

thanks for posting that, anyone use the hope retainer chain ring, i have read on reviews the teeth are longer.
i’m after one that i’ll need to last awhile on my commuter hardtail had enough of triple gears n front mechs.0 -
Not much point using a narrow wide on a commuter bike, you don't need the chain retention. Just take off the front mech and two rings you don't want.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

you're assuming they don't go up and down mountains on their way to work that'd be a cool commute0 -

well its for my do it all hard tail bike found that a 32-34t front chain ring will be enough for rides in to work and around the local tracks.
that's until I can get started on the scout bike build.0
