Wales to struggle without the kicking of Halfpenny, though I do think they are now using a better fullback.
England I suspect will fail to excite me, France will do the same. Scotland will just struggle with getting the basics right, though Hogg may shine.
Schmidt will bring Ireland back up after the last few games but not all the way.
I am interested to see how the likes of the USA do along with Fiji and Japan.
NZ to choke and SA to take it. PS I am rubbish at predicting anything0 -
Looking forward to it, might get a bit busy around these parts though. Pubs in Twickenham may be best avoided at times. My son wanted to go to a match with a friend, stupidly I thought I'd leave it to the two of them. Having applied for obscure matches all over the country, they got tickets for Wales v Australia at Twickenham. I wish I'd got one for myself too.0

I have a sneaking suspicion that Australia may win this one. They have in incredible knack of timing their run in to these things and their recent victory over the ABs to win the Rugby Championship won't have done their confidence any harm.
ABs always to be feared though and I wouldn't be disappointed to get Aus, NZ, SA, England or Ireland in a sweepstake. If England win the group (massive "IF") I think home advantage could take them a long way.
I too am very interested in how USA will fare. From my experience and observance, they are an awaking giant of world rugbyWilier Izoard XP0 -

Blxxdy hope not, they are in Scotland's pool along with SA. :?
Anyway, bring on proper sport. And less prominence to overpaid diving pansy (soccer) footballers.0 -

They'll give Scotland a game. I expect to see them in the quarter finals by 2019 . . .Wilier Izoard XP0 -

A rugby thread managed to go a whole 5 posts until somebody mentions that they don't like football. That must be some sort of record.0 -

Been watching a lot of rugby past several days so comparisons'r'us. Then MoTD on record.
Opening for the prosecution m'lud, I give you serial offender Callum McManaman, an obvious diver for West Brom, Wigan, ...
Ach tae hell with him and his like, bring on real men.0 -

Those footballers who dive and act like they've been shot - they aren't soft, they're just cheats.0 -

Anyone got a good bluffer's guide?
I've got some corporate tickets for some big fan clients who are super pumped.
Only I find it pretty tedious. Too much happens underneath a pile of bodies.
*massive pile of bodies. Whistle goes. Everyone looks confused. Someone drops the "ball" on their foot and off it goes again*
I know the gist, scoring etc. but any brain searing comments I can throw in at various intervals?0 -

England have the hardest group with Australia and Wales. The Welsh will have an unfair advantage when they play England as they spend all year chasing white things around a field.Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0

So, first England game tonight in the pub. Club Hill Climb from 09:30 tomorrow. Bleurgh.Cube - Peloton
Cannondale - CAAD100 -
England 35 - 11 Fiji
Bonus point win for England but a very unconvincing performance, the scrum is a particular worry!
But a win is a win and we'll take that.0 -
I'm more optimistic after that. Fiji would have been right in it with 15 minutes left had they had a reliable kicker but were always likely to tire in the end. Can't see England being that bad again though unfortunately.0
-
Typically nervous start which I'd say means nothing for the rest of the Cup. All that matters was coming away with the win. Which is not to say that sticking 100 points on Fiji wouldnt have been a great F U to Wales and the Shackle Draggers but...meh, actually a bonus pint win is what England needed and nothing elseWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

48 minutes to play the first half. Nigh on 2 hours to play an 80 minute game. Massively overused TMO intervention.
Then, when it counted, right in front of the ref, no-one looked at the replay at all.

Definitely too much use of TMO, taking away a try after it's given is wrong.
Tonga v Georgia on now, Nigel Owens is ref. can I support the ref? He's a class act, even if he is Welsh.0 -
Well done Georgia. Excellent win over tonga. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I never thought I'd ever end up screaming at the screen for Japan... brilliant stuff. What heart.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

I'm in full World Cup mode.
Just jumped off the sofa when some bloke I've never heard of scored for Japan to beat the Boks in the last minute.
Unbelievable!0 -
