Between Spilak and Zakarin now? Pinot slower than Froome who was slower than Spilak.

Zakarin just gets it from Spilak? Martin takes the stage.

    Edit:

Thought Spilak was closer to Zakarin!

Big well done to Simon Yates on 6th place finish overall.

Isn't zakarin an ex doper. Would have loved pinot to have won.

Yes, tested positive when he was 19 for steroids. Got a 2yr ban.

So an ex-doping Russian who no one has heard of and comes out of no where takes the top spot and a reclusive Slovenian riding for a Russian team in 1st and 2nd.

    Ok then.

I hope they test that guy every couple of weeks.

    Rides aggressively though!

    Well done Yates.

Russian amateur? Steroid use not uncommon and certainly tolerated and half the steroids were in daily use ? Bit of bulking up at 19 - misguided. Should maybe let him get on....unless the (now) unthinkable

To be fair, if you were ever going to put money on someone doing well in a race, you could not do much better than the Spilak / Romandie combo.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

In pozzovivo's case it's because the sponsor doesn't make a frame small enough for him.

There's quite few photos of him riding a proper TT bike though.

Incidentally, the photo of him on the modified road bike is from the 2013 Vuelta, where he came 3rd in the ITT behind Tony Martin and Cancellara.

    Tony Martin on Zakarin:

“I am very surprised by his performance today, notably because of his changing bikes,” he told AFP. “Already yesterday I was surprised. I didn’t know of him before.”

Apparently he went from 75kg to 65kg in two years as well.

    Ridiculously skinny:

Pinot had done a recon of that climb which undoubtedly helped him to the win.
