Has Alaphilippe come out of nowhere the past 4 weeks or have I not been paying attention?
He's a 22 year old in only his 2nd year. Allowed to come out of nowhere

    Fair.

Meant more - is he one of those juniors who is tipped by anyone and everyone who pays attention to juniors?

INRNG had him on his 'ones to watch' list this for this year. Possibly last year too now I think about it.

Albasini is now a two-time loser and retains the loser's jersey.

Check out Alaphilippe's performance in the U23 Worlds 2013. As soon as I saw the guy ride like that he went straight into my ones to watch.

Me too. Have him in my team for one of the games that run for the season.

Another one I've had my eye on? Stefan Küng.
Very impressive ITT in De Panne. Saw him ride away from the field in Limburg and now today.
The Swiss have a ready made replacement for their health and safety guy.

As for the race, in terms of roadside spectators, Romandie is Europe's answer to the Tour of Qatar.

Yep, got Kung in my CQ team, emerging CQ team, youth CQ team, road.cc team, Podium Cafe team, UCI draft team but I didn't put him in my Zweeler team for some reason. Hmm.

    That's a lot of teams.

Forgot this race was even running today.

    Congratulations Kung.

Watching the highlights...didn't realise Kueng had gone solo at 25km to go. Massive talent.

Live streaming of the queen stage is on. Two riders four minutes up the road with 40k and two mountains to go. Astana leading the peloton with Movistar and Lampre up there with numbers. Quintana following Nibali's wheel. Froome mid bunch with just one teammate.

It looks like a hard pace on the penultimate climb. Horrible weather. Favourites amassing near the front.

Zoidl struggling at the moment. He shouldn't be.

Majka better put in a respectable performance as he has been absolutely rubbish this season. Completely different rider to the one where he took those wins last year...

No Sky left for Froome and it's Movistar taking control. Tinkoff also look keen.

If it rains much more there will be a river flowing down the last climb.

Not sure why Froome has had 0 teammates for last 30km. Nibali has few. Quintana very well supported as usual.

Spilak lurking near the front. Pinot close as well. M Frank.

What are all these tiny traffic cones doing in the road over the last few k? Are they covering up something?

The final climb starts. I think Froome is struggling.

Froome hanging on at the back as they hit the final climb. Dont judge him yet though as he is the master at recovering all of a sudden.

Froome should have a go at the hour record at some point. He knows how to suffer.
