Headset cup removal

Guys,
Trying to remove the headset cups on my lads frame so I can get it to the powdercoaters.
I've got the correct size removal tool and a big rubber mallet.

Had a go last night and couldn't get either of the cups to budge.

Am I missing something? Have removed all bearings and seals etc. but seem to be stuck fast.

Is it just a case of man-up and whack it harder?
Is it worth me spraying WD40/GT85 between the frame & cup to see if that helps?

Thanks

Some penetrating fluid can't harm. Make sure you're hitting it while the frame is against something that won't move so the whacks actually do something. Other than that, hit it harder.

head cups don't need that much to come out, make sure you hit the cup and not the inside of the frame, and get a hard plastick hamer or a metal one, rubber mallets tend to absorb too much impact and don't work very good on this kind of situations

    Bigger hammer. Man sized whack.

why would you use a rubber mallet? the tool does not need protecting.

    no need to spary anything.

this is of cause presuming that the frame actually has removable cups.

Will give it a go with a bigger hammer.

I'm pretty sure they're removable - can't see anything obvious keeping them in.

If in doubt, always use a bigger hammer.....
