I've just broken mine, didn't realise how flimsy they could be, the pin just snapped off. Can someone recommend a tool that doesn't cost the earth that will do all speeds. This is one job I tend to mess up never seem to get the pins in easily without the pin going in crooked or the outer plates deforming, then again only had cheap tools so willing to invest a bit more this time.

  • You can buy replacement pins for the Park ones if the worst comes to the worst:

Like you say It goes in crooked because its poorly machined.

Had the same problem a few weeks back - cheap chain tool as well. Now replaced with Park Tool Brute CT-5
Used it on 9,10, and 11 speed chains. Also small enough to carry in the saddle pouch. Works better than I expected and looks to last. Its not so small that you can't use it regularly (unlike those multi-tools with chain breaker)

Edit - its also less than £10
