Ultegra chain/cassette

I have a voucher to use on a online retailer. I was thinking about buying a second cassette, which would be Ultegra for my other pair of wheels, or a Ultegra chain.

Would I feel a difference in a changing from Tigra chain/cassette?

Thanks

I assume you are talking 10sp, if you mean like for like ratio wise, then the Ultegra cassette will be lighter so that's what I would choose to go on your best wheels for summer use. Chains are regularly discounted so I would hold off on that, unless you actually need one now.

Don't be tempted to by the Ultegra cassette and use it with a part worn chain, wait until you have a new chain to use with it, if you don't already have a new spare chain in you spare parts store.

Nope, I reckon you would feel no difference in swapping from Tiagra to Ultegra. The main difference for drivechains is how well they are setup and maintained. The other stuff is generally fluff, IMO.

Weight, well swapping to Ultegra will equate to about an inch of water in your bottle. I am not saying you would not feel that but I certainly cannot.

I would just go for the best deal you can, if you can get a Tiagra/105/Ultegra cassette cheap then go for it (check compatibility first) as having to swap cassettes and wheels is a PITA. Chain? I would recommend KMC X10L...great chain that offers good VFM, is compatible across the 10 speed range and it works well, is reliable and comes with a Missing Link to aid maintenance, etc. No point buying one though until the current chain is worn (0.7+ in my household).

The advice above about mixing new chain and worn cassette is very valid but I reckon that if your chain is less than .5 then mixing is ok. If you don't know how worn your chain is then use some of the voucher for either a chain checker or good steel ruler.
