Axle length at Lee Valley
I have a session booked at Lee Valley and I would like to use my own bike if possible. The T's and C's say the axle can't protrude past the track nut. Mine does but the end is nicely bevelled. What is the best way to cut them down, I think there is too little sticking out to hacksaw it and too much to file it. Also I'm worried that I may mess up the thread.

Depends on the coach, most likely. If the axle can be removed, you could get it turned by a local machine shop. Not sure what Lee Valley's policy is on SPDs - are you planning to change them?0

Oh I have LOOKs on there now, it's an old picture.
I'm not sure how a washer behind it will work as it needs to bite on to the track end. Bit of a pain in the backside as they are a proper track hub and it's a proper track frame.0 -
I have washers/spacers on one set of track wheels for this very reason - shouldn't make the wheel any less secure.0

Ah cool, I shall raid my shed and see what I can find!0

I've found a couple of wahshers, strangely it needs one on the drive side and two on the non-drive. I've just given it a blast up and down the road with some hard acceleration and deceleration and it hasn't moved so hopefully that will do the trick, thanks guys.0

Alternative to washers would be to find some domed nuts and use those. They may bottom out if the threads protrude too far past the current nuts though.0

Cool, they are hopefully alright with the washers but if they pull me up on it I'll check out the domed washers. Is there a track shop at the Velodrome? I seem to remember reading it somewhere but I can't find it now.0

We don't have a track shop, there is cycle surgery though.0

I have never seen anyone pulled up for this at LVV0

I had my first session today, the bike was all OK so the washers did the trick ;-) Now for the second part...0

So after all that worrying, I had my second session today and I noticed the (Hire) bike in front of me had axles sticking out about 5mm!
I found it a bit odd as it was the Velodrome's own bike built to their spec, my bike was more legal than theirs!0
