  • The price is good, however:

    1) Tricon is the most stupid spoke assembly I have ever come across, which involves sacrificial plastic cones that need to be hammered and smashed to fit a spoke holding device inside the rim. Not sure what the benefit of such idiotic system is. The toolset to maintain these wheels is endless and virtually no shop on the planet have them.

    2) The wheels are under built and suitable to someone well under 70 Kg. They lack stiffness completely, due to the hub design and spoke choice

    3) The rims wear very rapidly as they have an almost inexistent brake track

    4) Spoke breakages are fairly frequent and common even for light riders

On the up side, the DT Hugi ratchet type free hub is excellent and the bearings are very good.

On balance, yes, but only if you are very very light

I had a pair of these. Front wheel out of true on the very first ride - didn't hit anything but I am over 70 kg. As Ugo says not many places have the tools to fix these so in the end the wheel went back to the UK distributor to get trued. Also not sure if your intent is to run clincher or tubeless, but I found it very tough to fit a clincher tyre on these rims. I've fitted tyres to many rims and these were singularly the biggest pita to fit. Wheelset ended up gathering dust in the shed of failed kit experiments !

DT Swiss make fine rim the RR440 and R460. There hubs are fine too paired with stiff rims but forget there wheels.

these wheels cannot be found in the dt swiss web site either. in fact there are no road wheels in the "tricon" section.

Discontinued... they were pretty dreadful and silly priced, considering what you can get with that money
