Im doing an event in June. Climbing six time up Alp d'huez for charity. I currently run a Shimano Ultegra 6800 53x39 crankset. Can i fit a 50x34 on this crank or do i have to buy another crankset. Also i,m looking for some wheels for the event with a budget of say 250 pounds does anyone have any suggestions please.

you can just buy new rings for a 6800 crank in a smaller size, all 6800 cranks use a 110bcd, but it might be cheaper to just buy new cranks with smaller rings!

Sorry but ugo is wrong on this. You can just replace the rings on the 4-arm, 11 speed spiders. Given the cost of the rings it's probably cheaper to buy a new crankset, as Ollie said.

  • £120 for a complete new crankset, whereas just the rings would probably set you back at least £100...
