A few years ago during a night out when my judgement was compromised both me and a friend ended up buy a cheap single speed fixed gear bike each, but because I left my common sense at the pub I ended up buying a bike that was way too small for me. I continued to ride it and have enjoyed riding around town on it so I've decided that it's time to buy a better quality and the correct size fixie bike.
I'm between these 2 bikes fuji track 2.1 2014 or charge plug 2 2014
I can get the Fuji for €500 from lbs maybe a little bit less or the charge for €380 from wiggle.
what's the best option? is the Fuji worth the extra money?

I couldn't open your links but for me S/S are cheap & cheerful around town jobs that might get knicked, so I'd say the cheaper option. Also I like charge bikes, nice frames.

Also worth considering if you want to run full guards - do they mudguard mounts? My SE Racing S/S used to - helped in winter.

  • If it were me I would go for the Fuji just because I prefer the look, it has bottle bosses and it's lighter.

thanks for the replies, I updated the links (they should work now)
I don't need mudguards it doesn't rain much here in Athens and I'm a fair weather rider, ride for pleasure not for commuting. bottle cage not important also I use a camelbck
I do prefer the looks of the Fuji but if there isn't any big improvements over the charge then I cant justify the extra cost.

I've had a Fuji Track - the frame is solid (if heavy) but the rest of the parts were all replaced in a year or two (literally every part). These are both budget bikes... at this price it's well worth looking at secondhand bikes, or build something out of parts. It's fun, and you'll almost certainly end up with something much better?

I'd get the charge ahead of the fuji because the brake handle placement is much more sensible for drop handlebars, and opens up the opportunity for you to ride on the hoods.

I have thought about just buying a bigger frame and transferring my parts over (fitting better parts as and when I need them) but i couldn't find any reasonable priced frames with delivery to Greece

i did see this on ebay for £145 (€185) but not sure if it's worth the money or this for £88 (€112)
anyone know of a good value for money large Frame? are the above 2 frames any good/reasonable?

If you go down the frame route then I'd get this: http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FROOPV4/on ... 4-frameset
although I still think the charge is a good choice. And this is in budget: http://www.merlincycles.com/merlin-sing ... 61807.html
