Has anybody ever removed decals form carbon rims?.....the laser etched variety?

Bought a set of wheels that were cheap and they have syncros RL 1.1 carbon rims with green decals that I pressume to be laser etched on. I'm not sure the decals with suit my frame and I prefer the stealthy look, I'd like to remove them.

Anybody any ideas?

    Laser etched are not decals.

Decals are stuck on with an adhesive and with care can be removed.

If it has been etched on I wouls guess it is paint.

Then you get into a world of solvents and abrasives. Not things you really want near your rims.

I think with all carbon rims a decal is added and as you suggested a light layer of lacquer is put on.

It can be removed with some solvent, but unsure if it will damage the carbon. I would say it should be ok as I have wet sanded carbon before and machine polished it. But that was on a wing of my track car.

Should google up wet sanding if you are unsure, but generally when the water goes a bit milky, thats the lacquer coming off. Then as with all decals, a bit of heat should remove them.

    Hope this helps.
