Anyone thinking of getting the winter bike out or getting out the mud guards? I can't believe the weather is like this already .....hope September has a last minuet heat wave .... Don't get me wrong I'm all for all weather riding but it's just not as fun as glorious sunny days
When i die I just hope the wife doesn't sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it other wise someone will be getting a mega deal!!!

I've just finished re-taping the replacement bars on my winter bike, just getting it ready for a quick jaunt around the lanes this evening. Pretty miserable out there at the moment so think full guards are called for

I've not done nowhere near enough riding this year but a 9month old girl sure does take up most of them sunny days I just can't believe we are in the last week of august already and it's dark at 20:15 .....

  • I was glad to see the rain. Needed an excuse to spend some time indoors for a change

I'm in Germany where the last 3 years I've been pretty impressed with the lack of rain and then Boom, even the hot Summer days were humid and caused Thunderstorms. I put the attachments for the mudguards on while cleaning the bike yesterday, looks like they'll be going on proper today, at least a chance to test out the new Gabba ;)

Use it as an excuse to get some more retail therapy and buy some 'much needed' 'urgently' winter / rain gear.

Hmmm speaking of which I really should have a Winter bike right?

Sod the winter bike, I even thought about firing up the wood burner.

    WINTER IS COMING!!

In Yorkshire at least - had a wet and muddy CX ride yesterday, and I got that 'finger & toes warming up' tingle in the shower afterwards!

We lit ours yesterday. No riding as piffing down all day, cold and miserable out. The log burner made it feel like bloody Christmas though!

    Is it really still August?

Time to look for a winter/CX bike.

What is this winter you all are talking about? It was 91°F  when I rode yesterday afternoon. We set a record high Saturday and the heat indexes have been in the 105°F-110°F :? for the last week. Send us some of your UK weather over here, please.

That's just what I did last night but blimey it was warm, reckon I was pushing the upper limits of the Gabba's useable temperature range - and it didn't rain!

Driving home from work today, I counted 3 x cyclists wearing various versions of the Gabba - seem to be a bit more abundant now after the recent Evans sale

This is so true. A kid can put such a dent in your riding. This time last year I was living on my own in a flat and I don't think I've ever cycled as much as I did in those twelve months. Jaunts down to the Peak District, old Brickworks route after work, up to Preston to see the missus on Fridays, out round Bowland on the weekend, even up to the Lake District a few times.

Average this year? About forty miles each Saturday - if I'm lucky!

Definitely nippy in the mornings but I love that about Autumn – nailing what to wear and just have the sting of cold on my cheeks while the rest neither gets too warm nor too cold. So long as it's sunny, bring on the cold!

Actually, I felt a bit whiney  about posting it, I'd love for fall to arrive here early this year. We have had a mild summer as they go, this is an end of summer heat wave we had last weekend. Being on the Gulf of Mexico it can get humid beyond endurance. Hopefully you can get in some rides without all the flooding that the UK has had to endure of late. Stay safe and ride when you can. Cheers.
Lets just got for a ride, the heck with all this stuff...
