After searching around I decided to go for the Carerra Kraken which was the 26" wheel bike 2011/1012 model .

but the small frame size which I need is discontinued so Halfords are going to try and locate one for me. I have been told that for my trouble I can have the new 2015 model for the same price but this is with 27.5" wheels

I have heard pros and cons about going to 27.5" wheels.

What are your opinions on 26" to 27.5" wheels. Not sure weather to go for newer model with 27.5" wheels or try and get 26"wheel model.

Other than that my budget is £500 so if you have any other recommendations I'm interested to hear about them.

If you have any advice it would be appreciated as I am sure most of you have more knowledge about this than me.

Wheel size will make little difference so go with the newer bike if they're happy to give you that.

26" is obsolete. If you buy a bike with 26" wheels it just won't work.

Ignore RMSC, it's his attempt at humour.

Get the new one if they are going to give it to you cheap - wheel size for most is not going to make a noticeable difference - I like my 27.5 but I like my 26er as well.

If it has to be Halfords, the 2012 fury on discount would be a much better bet.
