Garmin 510 HR not working right

Hi All
My HR will start for a coupe of seconds then disappear. I will budge it with my fingers and it may come on for a second or two then go again or might not any at all. It's out of warranty now.

    Flat battery, loose strap, loose clothing, tabs not moist enough etc etc
    I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

    Had similar issues with my Garmin HRM strap. Battery was fine. Decided that the elastic strap + it's electrodes/contact patches had "worn out". Replaced the elastic strap with a Polar one and worked perfectly. Polar strap is much higher quality in my opinion. Mine goes in the wash every week (that's just the elastic strap!). Garmin HRM "pod" clips on perfectly. Been using the Polar strap for 450+ hours over the last 6 months with no problems
