Garmin edge 510 elevation profile

Anyone had problems with the edge 510 not showing an elevation profile for routes created in garmin connect. I've found that if I use another application such as bike route toaster I get an elevation profile but on routes I've created on GC all I get is a flat line showing on the page as I'm riding which is not much help .
However I have been creating routes on GC an then using the app on my phone sending it to the edge via bluetooth, but I have discovered recently that if I connect the edge to the PC via USB and transfer the same route direct from GC I get an elevation profile showing on the edge

Garmin connect has behaved like that for a long time. I always use Strava to create my routes now which gives an elevation profile plus a segment list if you should want to get more detail of a particular part of the profile.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0
