How are people finding using live tracking?

Am I right in thinking I need to put Garmin Express on my Mac to be able to use it?
I started to install it but it said ant agent would be disabled, and think I have to use that for my Forerunner.

An idiots guide would be appreciated. Only had a quick look into it earlier.

Can people you invite see your position on an iPhone via a 3g connection?

From what I remember (sold my 510 ages ago) all you need is to do:
Install garmin connect app on phone
    Bluetooth phone and garmin
    Enable live tracking
From there you can email the tracking link.

it's pretty intuitive, I had it set up in a couple of mins without reading any instructions and I'm as thick as pig poo :D .

No need to install garmin express unless you want to. I never installed (only had the communicator plugin installed. on my mac)

You don't need to do anything to your Mac. I use LiveTrack every ride.

Install Garmin Connect on the phone.
Connect the phone to the Garmin.
    Select LiveTrack.
Enter the email address for the contacts you want notifying.
Enable Facebook and/or Twitter if you want the link posting on there too, such as if you have a club group or something.
    Start LiveTrack.
    Start your ride.

There are still some issues with LiveTrack so don't be surprised if sometimes it fails to send a link and you get an error message on the device. 9 times out of 10 the error message won't appear until you're riding and you'll likely miss it. Until Garmin and Apple sort themselves out the problem is likely to persist for some time. As far as I'm aware, Android users aren't having the same problem. Garmin recommend uninstalling Garmin Connect, clearing the data and re-installing Garmin Connect. I've tried that and it did work for one ride, but it's back to hit and miss again now. It did work fine until the latest iOS firmware update.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

Thanks guys. Thats kind of what I thought about Mac and Garmin express.

I bought an iPhone (as opposed to an android) especially as I was under the impression Garmins were better set up to work with them................Bummer!

I updated my iPhone to the latest software version too...........Double Bummer!! lol
