Has anybody ever ridden a road bike on the island of Gozo? There are very few roads but thought I'd give it a go while I'm there but no idea about surface quality and traffic.
Any advice or info would be gratefully received.

Surface quality in Gozo (and Malta) is generally very poor as I recall. Unless the government has undertaken a massive re-surfacing campaign in recent years, which I doubt.
Would probably be ok on 28s or similar, but don't take your best wheels...0 -

I've got family in Malta and visit once a year or so but I don't think I'd ever consider riding a road bike there, the road surface is diabolical and the drivers aren't much better. You'll probably have more fun on a mountain bike to be honest, plenty of dirt tracks around!0

We went to Malta for our honeymoon. I was told that they don't drive on the right, or left, but in the shade. We went to Gozo for a day trip, and don't remember seeing any paved roads, but we did stay on the beach. Fascinating country and landscape, so embrace the dark side, get an MTB and explore.0

Malta is a great place but i wouldnt ride a bike on the road, the surface is poor and the drivers are insane. There is next to nothing in Gozo that would be worth riding on, better finding a cafe, ordering coffee and eating pastizzi.Life isnt like a box of chocolates, its like a bag of pic n mix.0
