    Because people in good respectable jobs get more sympathy...

    If the Mccanns were unemployed dole scroungers as opposed to Doctors, they'd have been charged with neglect and probably murder a long time ago.

    Journalistic padding, that's all. The writer has to meet his daily wordcount target somehow. Same reason that car v car collisions always recount the make & model of each car, even though it's irrelevant....
