New pain on the bike

Hi guys
Ive recently started experiencing a new pain while riding to work and back. My lower back gives me real grief after almost no time at all when i wasn't having any issue with it previously. Problem is i cannot pinpoint whether a change in my position could of caused it as nothing seems to have changed dramatically. I did swap saddles and perhaps that is the cause, but ive set it up as i am sure my previous one was, and in a mirror i look about right. I do wear a backpack on the commute, but it isnt heavy so i don't know if that could be a cause.
The pain is across the entire width of my lower back, just about the hip. I'm not new to cycling and the bike isnt new either in case that helps
Anybody experience something similar and found a fix?
