Hi,

I was thinking of traveling to Glossop (or as close as I can) on Sunday, dumping the car & riding up woodhead road (B6105) to Woodhead reservoir.
I know this Sounds far to simple & naive so has anyone got any advice?

Cheers

A lot of the roads in Glossop are closed and you will not be able to park anywhere near the town, but there are signs up already for TdF parking - some of which appears to be up the Woodhead Road. Also parking available near Tintwistle.

My advice is don't watch it on the Woodhead. All you'll see is the riders fly past at high speed. Either ride across the Woodhead (closed road - nice ride and it only averages 3% gradient to the summit) towards the Strines/Bradfield and watch on a hill there or go up Holme Moss and watch.

Thanks, Tintwistle sounds good if I get that far.....how busy is that likely to be on Sunday morning?

Thanks for the advice, correct me if I'm wrong but I chose Woodhead reservoir because on the map it looks like a tight left which inevitably would slow them down.....

Yes it is at the junction of the Holme Moss descent, but it's downhill to the junction, downhill away from it and a closed road means they can go much wider than normal traffic. They'll slow down sure but there really won't be much happening.

You're within walking distance of Holme Moss summit from there, get yourself up and have a proper view of them coming up the hill! :)
