Everyone is different - a saddle that might suit one rider might not suit another, so suggesting something that might suit you is going to be very difficult...0

This.
Get yourself along to your nearest bike shop that can measure your sit bones and go from there."Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Yes , read on the web how to measure yourself for a saddle. Also where the pain is also will guide you. I got soft tissue pain in the middle from my old saddle. After measuring bought a wider saddle with a cut away which means I now ride pain free.0

Or, if you want some very general advice, the two saddles that continually get positive reviews here are the Charge Spoon and the Specialized Romin range0

Agree with the others. It's not a better saddle you need, it's a better saddle FOR YOU. He important thing with saddles is not cost, brand or popularity, it's fit and positioning.
You could spend big money on a saddle only to end up less comfortable than you are now.
Also beware of just adding padding. Excessive padding can make a saddle much less comfortable, especially on longer rides and if your discomfort is soft tissue related.0 -
If you go to a local Fizik stockist they always have trial saddles that you can take away and ride for a few days. Plus you can get an idea of the type you need from their website0

+1 for the Charge Spoon. I bought one speculatively figuring that at £20 it was worth a punt. It's every bit as comfortable as the Bontrager for which I was fitted in a shop and paid £90, and there's no stitching coming undone...0 -

I guess if you want to take a speculative punt on a saddle an offering from Charge would be a good bet. I went for their Scoop when I recently built up my mountain bike, I think it's a little more 'road' looking anyway."Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut.
