Watching Stage 2 of TdF Questions

With only just getting into Road Cycling a few months ago I have never given much notice to the Tour de France, and certainly never considered going to watch it. But now I'm a changed man I'd quite like to go see what it is like and enjoy the sport with other people that enjoy the sport. Just don't know where's best to go watch or how to go watch. I'd quite like to watch a hilly stage that isn't crowded but still people there. (I suppose that's what everyone probably wants to find) haha is there any locals or people that know all about it got any advise on where is best to park and view and any other advice for the day. I'm going to go on the Sunday so Stage 2. I don't mind parking somewhere and cycling a few miles to go watch.
Cheers

Check out the Pro Race forum there's a few threads discussing where to watch from. I think hilly but not too busy is pretty much out of the question.0

There's a section of dual carriageway between Elland and Huddersfield that is uphill (not hilly) where you could easily see the riders go by. The really hilly stuff is going to be packed out as there isn't too many places to stand, or many long climbs like in the Alps.
Holme Moss wil be perhaps the hilliest spot that day but you won't be able to park anywhere near it and would have to get there early to get a spot.
Best to view this website: http://letour.yorkshire.com/stage-2
It'll give you the course route, profile, and timings of when he race will go past. The 'caravan' is the pre-race promotional parade that goes through a couple of hours before the riders. It's actually kinda fun to see - and they constantly throw trinkets to the crowd (keychains, etc, etc)0 -
Pokerface, the race DOESN'T go up the dual carriageway.I will be going through West Vale and up narrow hilly back streets up to Blackley and then onto Halifax road and then very fast downhill into and through Huddersfield.0
