Mavic CXR60 Wheels - Non-Yksion tyres?

Hello all
First post in this forum. Has anyone got any experience of fitting other tyres to the Mavic CXR60 clincher wheels. My rear got damaged by a pot hole this weekend and the side wall is split to the point where the tube is starting to bulge. I would prefer to be able to use my usual Continentals, but I am not sure how they would work with both the very narrow tyre channel (in the rim) and the skirts. Anyone got any experience of other tyres with these wheels or is the advice stick with the expensive (and frankly average) Mavics?
