Le Col de Moss TdF

We are planning to watch stage 2 of the TdF at the top of Holme Moss coming from the Manchester side.
As far as I understand you are allowed to cycle/walk on the TdF route up to 30 minutes before the tour caravan arrives.
The caravan schedule says 13:12 at Holme Moss so providing we arrive before 12:40 we should be ok.
However what I don't have any feel for is how much earlier we should arrive to get a reasonable spot and get through the crowds.
Any ideas?

To get the best spot, pack a tent, some baked beans and leave tonight.......0

Details here http://www.kirklees.gov.uk/events/tourDeFrance/holmeMoss.aspx suggest closure for cyclists and pedestrians two hours before Tour is due to pass, so I think you are being somewhat optimistic.
Any early start I think ....Regards

2 hours before the actual race but 30 mins before the publicity caravan. I wouldn't leave it until 12.40 though!
I think we're riding to Holmfirth Sunday morning, spending an hour or so there soaking up the atmosphere then going up Holme Moss and following the tour route back to Ewden Bank where we'll be watching from a quieter spot. Riding the Woodhead without the usual HGV's passing you 2 feet away will be absolute bliss too!0 -
There will only be about 1.99 million other people in the area.....I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0
