Holme Moss TdF bike security

Hi guys,
Sorry if this is a stupid question! New to the road biking world after deciding to give my knees a rest from running and havent been to a grand tour before, or road race in this country even!
Im trying to find out what people do with their bikes if they plan on riding up to the top of Holme Moss to watch the TdF. Will there be a secure parking area (cant see it advertised anywhere) or is it just a case of hanging onto it?
Thanks!

I suspect it's going to be a case of dumping it wherever you can, and keeping an eye on it. Unless you're on your own you can always lock 2 or more bikes together to deter the passing pilferer. The fact the road's closed will also make it tricky for some scrote to hop on a bike and cycle away.0

Was thinking the same this morning.
I am planning to lock two bikes together with the front wheels taken off and then just keep an eye. The thinking is that there will be so many loose bikes that two looked together with the front wheels not attached will be a much harder "steal"0 -
Was on the last corner by the restaurant on the Mt Saint Michel TT last year and decent bikes were just left leaning against trees & fences. I kept an eye on mine but wasn't worried - I'd suspect the same is true for this. There's also safety in numbers; if one does go missing it probably won't be yours, esp if it has small lock through the wheel.0

I think I'm going to walk it up anyway (blackstone edge though) or at least drive as far up as possible and ditch the truck.Advocate of disc brakes.0

I remember riding up Alpe d'Huez when team CSC were big.
They had a huuuuge fan club and the deal must have been you buy the bike and we give you the kit - everyone was on the same bike and the same kit.
They had a restaurant booked to watch the tour - all the bikes parked outside. To this day people must be on the wrong bikes as there were a couple of 100 team bikes all identical lined up outside.
I'd not worry too much about security - the road will be closed so nobody can escape on the bike until later.0 -

I have that dilemma for Saturday, I can take my cable lock, or I can take a second water bottle, not both. Although having my cable lock allows me to buy more water!0

I will just sit up next to the bike0

There are some simple things you can do to make your bike less easy to walk/ride off with - put it in top gear, loosen the q/r skewers. Given the spate of bike thefts are various events recently (at registration of a tri-athlone) these scum are targetting places where they know there will be good quality bikes and simply walking off with them - no one will notice or question. Just a little thought may save your bacon (or bike).WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels
