Im looking for a new bike to buy but im not sure what to get.
Im looking for a white mountain bike with red rims, maximum price £350-£400. Can anyone reccomend a bike or set of red rims that aren't too pricey?

On the assumption that this is a serious question. No.
Read the buying advice section for numerous threads on budget bikes.
At this level there are a lot more important things than colour.I don't do smileys.

A colour combination is the only thing you're looking for in a bike? Seriously? All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Well, I joined this forum thinking everyone was friendly and informative. Evidently I was wrong. Just because I don't share the same views as you when it comes to bikes, doesn't mean you need to be sarcastic and unwelcoming. Thanks guys0

I like your thinking, however, this isn't to my taste.0 -
Buy a white bike to like that is the correct spec etc, then buy red wheels afterwards if you like.
Form should never come over function IMO0 -
I'm a fan of both form and function. I'm not an avid mountain biker like most on here. I just like to ride a few miles on off-road tracks every day or two. I'm going to look at the specs of my current bike and get something with a similar frame size, rim size, etc.
Thanks for the reply.0 -
Does the colour of the spokes and hubs matter?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

No, not really. Black, red or grey would be fine I guess.0 -
What about these? Probably not the nicest wheels but they are red and cheap.

I currently have an Apollo X-Rated bike. I know it's not a mountain bike but it does the same job, pretty much.0 -
What is a mountain bike? I mean when you think about it is the x-rated a mountain bike? Who can say? Does anyone really know?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

The X-Rated is a 'dirt jump bike' and not a mountain bike.0
-
Does it need to have rigid forks and v brakes?0

I know where you're going with this.I don't do smileys.

Why? If you do that it will be a jump bike, not a mountain bike.BicyclePerson123 wrote:The X-Rated is a 'dirt jump bike' and not a mountain bike.I don't do smileys.

I would prefer Disc Brakes. Im not bothered about the forks to be honest. I've read both good and bad things about both rigid and suspension forks.0 -
cooldad - If I went with the exact same frame size etc then yes, it would be a jump bike, however, I said I wanted something similar not exact. I know the sizes wont be the exact same because I am moving from a jump bike to a mountain bike.0

I've thought about spray painting it and looked at tutorials. It appears to be more complicated then just picking a colour and spraying.0

If you don't want it to look shite, yes it is, if you don't mind it looking shite then it's easy.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I've always taken care over the way my bikes look and I always will. I will not settle for anything that looks cheap and tacky.0

Then why don't you increase your budget?
If style matters so much to you then you need to be prepared to pay for it.0 -
