Morning everyone,
Just read a review of this stuff on road.cc, seems very positive.
Im wondering if anyone on here has used it and can tell me what its really like?! Ive always assumed putting stuff like slime into tubes would make the wheels so heavy that it would be counterproductive, but this seems to have a minimal weight impact.....to the point where it seems like a no brainer for my commuting bike and up for serious consideration on the weekend bike. Any reviews much appreciated.

I would expect the effect on the rolling resistance and ride quality to be detrimental, but as you say for commuting it's not a big deal.
However, why not using a dedicated tyre? In 7000 miles in London I never had a puncture with Vittoria Randonneur PRO and people have had similar experience with Schwalbe Marathon plus.
Incidentally, these tyres also outlast road tyres by a factor of 2 or 3 in terms of mileage, without impacting significantly on ride quality or average speed.
The other day I averaged 19 mph on my commute home, which is 100% urbanleft the forum March 20230 -
Thanks for the replies guys.
Sigorman, its funny you mention gatorskins - I had 12 punctures (yup, I actually kept a count!) last winter commuting on those and will never, ever touch them again.
Ive currently got Vittoria Rubinio Pro Techs on the commuter which seem to be a very good balance between protection and performance - its just when I read the review of the gel, it seemed to be very positive....but then again, reviews are not always to be trusted!
Thanks for the info on the Ranonneurs Ugo - I might give these a go this winter and see how they perform...liking the urban commute average speed by the way! :-)0 -
I've started using panaracer tyre liners inside my gp4 seasons as an extra layer of protection should something get through (I ride on some rough paths/roads and started to get some punctures late last year) and that may have helped along with regularly checking the tyre for things stuck in it - in fact thats possibly the most important thing.
Check your tyres every time you pump them up (once a week or more) and especially after a wet ride, takes 1 or two minutes if you're slow0
