Hi All
I am thinking about starting a cycle club at my school. I am seeking advice on just how to begin. The issues that come to mind:
funding (students would have to own bikes of course but a few fee ones would help!)
time (would use sunday mornings, summer club, evenings at near by velodrome)
legalities/regulations concerning under 18s
activities (time trials, sportives, competitions)

    Great stuff!

British Cycling have some guidance on how to set your club up and affiliation etc.

They will also be able to help with the child safeguarding stuff as well. (Not sure if you are a minor wanting to set up a club with other minors, or a teacher wanting to set up a club for pupils etc.).

Anyway - that would be my first port of call if you wanted to make a formal club. Otherwise, keep it informal if it is just you and some mates wanting to do a ride on Sundays etc.

I would start it out that way tbh, see where it goes. If it ends up that a bunch of you are regularly going out on Sunday morning rides you can look at taking it further.

Do you guys use Strava? I've found that's a good social networky type way of keeping a club together as you can all see what each other is up to, you can make a club on Strava.

Speak to a local club who have Go-Ride status with British Cycling. The contact for the Go-Ride/youth section should be able to offer you some advice.

Assuming the velodrome you mention is Halesowen, then best thing would be to speak to Halesowen CC - there is already a youth section there and all of the structure you need to run a go-ride/youth cycling club will already be in place.
