Removal of end nuts on Fulcrum Quattros

I want to replace the bearings of my front Quattro. The nuts at each end of the axle are a kind of knurled arrangement (part # R4-001). Any ideas on what tool I need to remove them and where I'd get it from? I don't want too b*gger the things. I've tried googling but with no luck.

Thanks

There's a hex allen key slot in the end, isn't there?

    Same as these?

That's what I thought there would be but I can't see any. I can't see how I get them off.

Just looked at mine - you're right. Bit silly really.
Think you will have to use big grips and bugger them.

Well, I'm glad it's not just me. I've had another look and can't see how you get them off. There's definitely no profile for an Allen Key and I can't see any C-Clips or similar. Surely there must be better way than putting a pair of grips on them? :?

No pleasure here either :( I thought this would be straightforward having changed bearings previously in my Fulcrum R7s. So far no solution has been suggested.

I'm hoping so, I have a pair of Quattros on my R1!

No, it's the very first bit to loosen the end nuts that isn't shown.
On the back wheels the end nut can be loosened with a spanner, but not on the front.

Unfortunately not. He is working on the rear wheel which is a bit different and he just spins the end off by hand. The ones on my front wheel certainly aren't finger tight.

OK, sorted... a bit embarrassing actually.

I phoned the guys at i-ride, described by Fulcrum as a SERVICE CENTER NETWORK, SALES NETWORK. They were very helpful.

The bottom line is that the two front outers (R4-001) just pull off, no screw, clips. The silver metal bit inboard of them is just the axle (R4-110).

Looks very straightforward to change the bearings.

    That's useful to know.
I would have mashed it by now.

Thanks for this. It saved me a lot of grief. The Fulcrum instruction pdf bears no relation to the hubs I have (correct year etc). My bearings were OK but the grease seemed on the low side. Re-greased the bearings, put it all back in place and the previous "scratchy" noise has gone. Not sure how long the allen bolt on the adjusting collar will last though.
