Garmin product support

I've had quite a bit of trouble with the satellite reception on my Edge 500, and I am part way through sorting it out with Garmin, but have repeatedly found that their product support is appalling, including repeated failure to respond to emails. Has anyone else found Garmin product support to be pretty hopeless?
Thanks.

Awful. They are happy to sell you their overpriced cack products but have no desire to help you when it goes wrong.

The Ryanair of the gadget industry in my opinion.

    Thanks.

On the contrary. My edge 500 charging port rusted & the device wouldn't charge. Contacted Garmin & explained, had to return the unit & had a replacement sent out the same day they received it, arriving the next day! Couldn't praise their customer support enough tbh.

Oh please. Just because your unit is on the fritz or you're about as technically savvy as a cucumber don't start slagging off a solid set of products. Yeah Garmin isn't perfect but they are unmatched for GPS bike computers.

I'm sorry, the thread asked for people's experience of Garmin's Customer Support and mine has been spectacularly poor.

But you are entirely right, comparing Garmin to Ryanair was unfair, Ryanair's products generally work.

My original 705 died following a software upgrade. It was out of warranty and Garmin support still agreed to exchange it for a refurbished one. My current 810 has been problem free other than the odd glitch that is no worse than any you can experience with a modern smart phone or computer.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

I have a 405 which has worked faultlessly for several years as a running watch and a 500 that has worked faultlessly as a cycling gps. Cant comment on product support as never had to use it...

Product support is pretty good in my experience, however i've always contacted them by phone rather than email. Worth trying that to see if you get better service.
