Can see it taking off for cyclists when it comes down in price, will out-do a garmin by also being able to connect to your phone properly, plus commuters can record more stuff to moan about. Cyclists don't have to worry too much about looking daft either as they are already wrapped in spandex.

There's one style of shades called Active out too https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/Shades_Active?id=glass_shade_active

Can think of better things to spend £1000 on.

Even if it does fall in price.

http://www.reconinstruments.com/products/jet/ Made for cyclists...much cheaper. Although I'll wait for a less conspicuous/bulky looking version in the future :)

I can see them being quite popular in the porn industry.

Of course I'd know nothing about that.

Might be useful for watching a sneaky bit of porn you mean :P

I will be a buyer. But then I'm very much in the camp of a technology early adopter. Hangover from my childhood spent in Japan.

Bit of a tech early adopter too and I was really tempted with them even before the UK announcement. Then I realised it's over a grand which, quite frankly, I'd rather spend on wheels or something. So I bought a new bike instead.

What nudged me to wait was reading the cost to make them is circa 10% of the current price. Whilst I understand they're unique and a concept work (and I'd have them if I had a spare 1K) I can wait a year or two until the battery/software gets better and the price drops significantly.

I can see them catching on eventually and will bite at some point, though.

Once upon a time, walking down the street talking to yourself would result in people calling the police. Now everybody seems to do it. In comparison, cycle kit and Google glass looks pretty sane to me.

Why do people care so much about what 'people' think? I mean, really, just live your life, within reason, how you want it.

I work in a classic English middle class office. I like cars very much, and usually have something a bit quirky/different...my colleagues always fret about what the 'neighbours will think'. I can't fathom that - I really don't care what my neighbours think of what I drive, and anyone who wishes to judge me based on my car can go do themselves.

Equally, if you want to wear lycra, if it's what makes you comfortable, so be it.

I do get the Google Glass concerns though. There was a dude at my daughter's playground with a pair, taking pictures and stuff, and it was bit like mate...please....
