    100 miles is a century and 100k is 100k

Riding 100 miles is a bot of a milestone (see, another clue) whereas riding 63 miles............not so much.

Did a metric century yesterday which is about 63miles*?. The extra 40 miles for a ye-old-century is quite a difference imo.

40 miles is a decent length ride in it's own right, so doing that straight after a 60 mile ride is a challenge indeed!

Saying the words 'metric century' sounds really sad to me.
Typing it seriously is bad enough, but never say out loud as it just makes you sound like a tw4t IMO.

I am doing a metric century on Sunday morning, then another 40 miles in the evening to make it into a real one for the day ;-)
  • You're all wrong. A century is a measure of time, not distance. Now,, if you were arguing over a centum miles or kilometres...

Drat :( What, not even if I keep my lycra and shoes on all day and only eat gels and energy bars?

You will be saying that quoting 'ride time' instead of start/finish time is not allowed next

It'd still be short of a century anyway. A 100 miles is just over 162kms so you'd still be 22ish kms short.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

    ???

A/ It was a joke (I only do real centuries and normally just call them 100 mile rides anyway).

    B/ Metric century (100KM) + 40 miles (64km) = 164km (102 miles). Wheres the shortfall?
