Am journeying down to the smoke on Tuesday, and am going to cast my eyes covetously over some new shoes whilst there, for mine are pinching and creating hot spots

Can anyone recommend me a decent shop in the centre of town, with shoes within the reach of mortal man ie around £100, and staff who treat the common man as human and not like some plague-ridden sh17-sucker?*

*For this reason, Condor Cycles can fcuk off, too many hipsters in there anyway.

It's just a hill. Get over it.

without the plague, I went in Condor but they seemed to have a lot less shoes than in the past. I think shoes maybe an online purchase these days.

Want to try before I buy, online too risky - tried that with DHB stuff, none of which fitted (particularly not the shoes!)

sure but wiggle do free returns using collect+ so it's actually pretty hassle free. I was after some sidis recently so I ordered a range and picked the ones I preferred. There simply wasn't a shop nearby with the range or the prices so it's the best option for me.

  • A little bit out of central London but have you tried Buckingham Bikes in Aylesbury?
Not been in there myself but I have been hearing a lot of good things about them lately. :D

No chance to compare makes, but there's always the Specialized store in Covent Garden.

    *this*
this attitude to allowing the customer free trial is what it should all be about!!! effectively the online market has killed off the LBS ability to hold things like shoes in stock as they are too expensive to hold in the full gamut of sizes for a smaller shop so they have to specialise(forgive the pun)
However too few online retailers offer this service wiggle do deserve massive praise for this service alone....

And despite me being annoyed with their cycle to work bike range, 'Wheelies' also do the same I discovered recently and purchased my Riot's from them when the local Bike shop wasn't prepared to offer any discount at all, I didn't want them to match Wheelies, but knowing you can save 10% with no effort, next day delivery and free returns, you can't turn your nose up at 10%....
Sorry a little off topic but when expensive purchases are on the cards free collect + returns means the difference to taking a punt or not where I am concerened.

I can see it makes sense but ordering a load of £250 shoes up front is quite an investment.

It's worth the trip to Sigma Sport for shoes.

They have most things which are popular - Spesh, Bont, Sidi, Fizik, Giro etc. Great staff too. They ride road or cross or tri unlike Evans staff who...well I don't know what they do...

    +1.
They seem to have everything there and always in stock.
