Road accident.

Yesterday I was involved in a collision with a car on my road bike. The damage to my bike is quite substantial and it will cost a lot of money to put it right. The driver has admitted responsibility so I presume her insurance will pay for the damage.
Is there anybody else who has been in a similar situation, and if so what happened. All help would be greatly appreciated as the repair bill will be nearly £2,000.

Have a look in commuting section for some advice - it applies if you're commuting or not ... :)

The bike can be replaced - I hope you're ok.

Do you have any witnesses? They will help substantiate your claim. The reason I mention this is that I am assuming you got her details at the side of the road etc. but as she has time to reflect and finds out the bill is £2000 she could change her version of events instead of what she said to you in a presumably shocked heat of the moment. Did she have a passenger/s i.e. potential witnesses?

I was knocked of my bike last November but lucky enough for me it was sorted out amicably with the driver who was at fault. I got a cheque from the guy 2 days later.

    Hope your ok.

I was knocked off last year - damaged wheel and some minor damage to bars only thankfully. I have a BC membership & their accident/legal protection & support was A1. If you haven't got that, get your bike to a reputable bike shop & get an estimate on the damages and an insurance valuation (ie an honest opinion on what it was worth pre accident) & then you have a starting point for your claim from the drivers insurance co. The damages to my bike/clothes/helmet were settled really quickly (was clearly the drivers fault and I had a witness - also the rozzers attended very quickly as they happened to be passing by and had enough to prosecute) but have only just had the compo payment for the injury to my shoulder.

Hope you get back on the road soon.
