I am trying to send the courses for my forthcoming Dover to Cape Wrath epic to my Edge 800. I managed to get 2 days to download but now Garmin Connect keeps telling me that it is unable to transfer the course. Please try again later. Is the something wrong with GC or is it me. I have the communicator plug in and GC can see my 800 so it is not that.
I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks

Send to device is always dodgy at best. I use file explorer and put the files in the \garmin\new files\ folder. But you need to transfer them one by one, each time powering up the garmin then turning off before you load the next.

You may need to do this with garmin connect too, may be the source of your problem.

I have also found that if the route you have plotted on the Site, has something thats not on the in built map this causes it to fall over with the issue mentioned

I'd use one of the free mapping services on the web. Personally I use ridewithgps.com. One of the main reasons I use this is that despite having elevation chart on the 800, exporting a course from Connect doesn't provide elevation information!

Latest update: I got 11 of the 13 days downloaded to the Edge 800. Two of the days just would not load. The files were put on GC by another person and others have also had the same issue as me. Ergo, the files are goosed. I have since re-plotted the two specific days using BikeHike and exported the files as TCX. They are now on my Garmin ready to roll. Kickoff is 21st June. Wish me luck.
