Hi guys and girls we are planning a 40 mile bike ride on sunday and we always try to include a cake stop during the ride, this time we are heading somehwhere different and although I know the area, I dont know it that well for coffee shops or garden centres ? we are heading out from fleet in hampshire and would like to stop somwhere around half way which is in the mortimer/bramley area of hampshire, I have found a coffee shop in sherfield on loddon, which is around 26 miles, I just wondered if anyone knew of anywhere else ? Thanks in advance :)

I am sure there are plenty of reviews on tripadvisor or the likes...

    Ride out Newbury way

the town is turning into a Barista training ground along with nail bars and phone shops.

I like the thought of getting your nails done mid ride...
  • I ride the area regularly and struggle to find anywhere (don't really go into Newbury town though).

I often ride out of Aldershot with a mate and head for the Surrey hills. He never seems to fail in his quest for a coffee stop. However whenever he comes over to my neck of the woods (Tadley) we may ride out through Kingsclere, Hungerford etc. and I always seem to let him down with a coffee-free ride.

There is a coffee shop at the bakery by Bramley station but it closes at 2 and isn't open on Sundays.

Where's the coffee shop at Sherfield on Loddon? I never seem to get there but it's in the right general area as we could go that way for a change.

What was your intended route from Fleet to Mortimer/Bramley?
There's no such thing as too old.

If you're aiming for Mortimer, it's only a few more miles to Tadley - more likelihood of finding a cafe there. Pedal On Cycles is also in Tadley - they have a coffee shop, I think...

I see this is an old thread but in that area I would recommend Little Roses at Elm park garden Centre in Pamber End - excellent cake and popular with cyclists.

On that note our Club Captain has made this rather handy google map of cyclist friendly cafes in Hampshire....

TBH I generally steer clear of East Berkshire - too much traffic
Others not on the map include:
    Buttercup Cafe, Oakley, nr Basingstoke
Honeypot, Overton - ask nicely and you can put your bikes in the back yard. Open fire in winter - toasty
Alresford - about 4 different tearooms including the one at the Station - Courtyard has nice cakes
Departure Lounge Cafe, A339 in the Garden Centre north of Alton
Lasham Airfield Cafe - open to all
Rumours, Lymington Bottom Rd, Four Marks
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
