Saw a few posts where people have been asking about the relative merits of different groupsets.
Since I started riding on a 2011 Spesh Allez equipped with 2300 things have progressed pretty rapidly. I think it's pretty widely accepted that Shimano operate a "trickle down" effect with the technology and weight saving - which is basically what you are paying the big ££ for on the Dura Ace and Ultegra nowadays.

I built up a Scott full carbon with full 105 that took me a long time to buy piecemeal. I wanted to get it right. The first time I rode it, and compared to my Allez triple - that I was very happy with - I can only describe it as going from a Ford Focus to a Porsche 911. It really was night and day.
The good thing is, that unlike the car analogy which would probably cost you 4 X the cost - it only cost me under double the £650 that my Spesh cost me - think I paid about £1200 all in - with wheels and £100 build cost.
The other thing is that I have just picked up a new full carbon bike with new Sora 9 speed for just £530 after cashback. TBH I was just after a new frame but after having ridden this Sora I see no point in changing a thing - performs just as well as my 105.
Unfortunately that's sold out now, unsurprisingly! But I heard about it here first http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/raleigh-sp-elite-road-bike-carbon-frame-fork-9kg-shimano-sora-internal-routing-700c-1907814
Might be worth keeping an eye out if another full carbon bike comes up under £600!!
Also there is a bargains thread on here - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12670609
