A friend of mine recently bought them. He hasn't had chance to test them too much but no complaints so far

Very very popular in the MTB world and known for good quality at a good price.

The road sets are a bit more untested but you won't need to worry about build quality

As an ex mountain biker I used a lot of superstar products, but never their wheels. Had their hubs on Stans Creat wheels. Never had issues. But there does seem to be very little in the way of reviews on road wheels, that's why I asked the initial question. Apparently the icon hubs are being upgraded to SKF bearings which will be better sealed and have less friction, but these will not be available until August.

20/24 spokes with Sapim Lazers. Cant imagine them being very stiff. Could be ok if you weigh about 50kg.

Superstar advise a weight limit of 90kg which is around 14.5 stone.

Light wheels are definitely worth it if you're 14.5 stone.

I'll be fine at 12stone :-) . Superstars Pave 28 was given a very good review a couple of weeks ago. Think it was BikeRadar.

Probably not, I found Lazers produced a flexy wheel set when I was not much over 11 stone.

I've a set a set of superstar MTB wheel, 5 broken spokes later, they've gone for a full rebuild at LBS.
I've done 200 mile tops, on cycle paths with the kids.
Awfull and I'll not buy again. To be fair they offered to look at them at my postage expense, which they'd refund if a fault was found., but it was far easier to go to LBS.

If the spokes break and you've not mowed them with your derailleur, how can they not be at fault? I hate when businesses assume you're guilty until proved innocent. It's unfair, in dealing with hundreds of cyclists looking for wheels, I have never come across a dishonest one

Great stiff wheels but a little harsh, I use them as back-up race wheels or wheels when I'm riding to/from a crit and don't fancy riding my tubs.
