Assos Bib Short Sizing

I am looking to buy my first set of Assos bib shorts for the summer. Looking at the size guide on their website, it states that a large is 180 - 185 cm (rider height) and the XL is 186 - 190 cm. I am 185.4 cm and having read various reviews on the Assos range (not a single bad comment), most people either state that they are true to size or very marginally short. With this is mind, would I be better going for the L or XL? I think the L may be a little small and XL a bit big. If anyone owns any Assos bib shorts I'd appreciate some feedback as to the fit and any possible recommendations. Thanks in advance.

i'm 6ff 2 and the XL assos bibs i have if anything are a little longer than i would like but do fit well - longer in the leg compared with my santini bibs for instance
great shorts though!0 -
Thanks Churchill. So at 6ft 1 you'd say large would be a good fit?0

I'm 185cm and have two pairs of Assos bibs...L and XL. Both fit well, but I marginally prefer the L (slightly more supportive). I think most Assos bibs are available in two leg lengths0

I'm 6ft and wear XL in the T.607 and they are my very favourite shorts
I wore L in Millie s5 (which got sent back as after a few ride it became very apparent the pad wasn't sewn in straight)
Have recently tried on S7 Equipe and Cento in an L and both were OK size wise. Cento seemed to have a fault thought as they pinched my left leg so they went back too.
All of these would be ok for 6ft 1 I reckon2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium

I'm 183cm and slim, not skinny. XL fits me perfectly.0

I think I may go for the XL as I'm quite heavy (90 kgs). I'm after a less racy and more comfort orientated pair of shorts. Which of the Assos range would you say would suit what I'm after? Thanks for the replies so far by the way0

The sizing will be about the same for all of them. Not quite sure what you mean by less racy as their bibshorts are just (from appearance) bibshorts ie they all look more or less the same. As for comfort they are imo the most comfortable shorts out there. Even the "cheap" Assos shorts are better than most others.0 -

And I think XL will be right for you. You're a few kgs heavier than me so any smaller could be a little snug.0 -
Thanks Neilo. I think I've narrowed it down to either the T.equipe s7 or the T fi.Mille. Not a huge price difference. Still not sure whether to go regular or long leg. I know there's 4 cm extra in the long leg but with me being at the lower end of the XL sizing, I may just stick to the regular0

Different shorts have different fits. Some are racey, compression style fit, others have a more comfort style.
The equipe is a very snug fit.
The mille was a more comfort orientated short.
The Mille is no longer made, it was replaced by the s7 cento. Although Assos say it isn't a replacement. The cento has more give in the fit and has the ridiculous kuku penthouse for your gentleman vegetables
That means good prices on the mille if you can find them in your size, or spending more on the cento, if it's comfort you're after2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium

Yes. I'm sure. Shorts do indeed have different fits
Read the descriptions for the s7 range. Otherwise, why make 4 different shorts? We're not talking baggy vs Lycra. We're talking compression fabrics etc2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium

The assos Mille shorts were not as tight fitting as the same sized unos. Assos say this in their blurb. They say it's for comfort but I never got on with the Mille tops or shorts as I found them both too loose - the top flapped about and the shorts moved about and didn't grip my legs. I'm no racing snake type either at 11 1/2 stones and 5'10".0

Thanks mike. I still haven't made my mind up on what to get yet. The Uno's, Mille's or S7's. The uno's seem good value (by Assos's standards) but I wanted something for long distance rides and something more geared around comfort0
